NearbyNow Converts Magazine Readers to Shoppers with iPhone™ Platform

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - August 11, 2009 – NearbyNow, a leader in digital personal shopping services, has added another channel for retailers and brands to reach consumers with the launch of the NearbyNow iPhone™ Platform. Following on the heels of its innovative and successful "Lucky at your Service" iPhone application built for Lucky magazine, NearbyNow developed a platform that allows retailers, brands, and media companies to tap into the exponentially growing number of consumers who are using iPhone apps for online and local shopping. Runner's World and Seventeen, both leading magazine titles in their categories, are the first two titles to launch iPhone applications using the platform, with more titles to be announced in the coming months.

The NearbyNow iPhone Platform, available on iTunes, is the first mobile solution that can offer consumers the instant gratification of finding a featured product at nearby stores, and even put the item on hold with just a few clicks. This helps retailers, brands, and media companies tap into the growing trend of mobile shopping, and understand both the online and in-store purchasing impact. The iPhone Platform is a virtually turnkey solution that allows clients to easily add content, which will be transformed into a custom mobile application with limited work required from a development standpoint. Top platform features include content management; a one-click concierge service (NearbyNow's exclusive product reservation service); comprehensive analytics for both online and offline sales; seven levels of advertising that provide extensive options for advertisers to reach consumers; and a variety of viral features to help support the social shopping concept.

The Runner's World iPhone application, "Runner’s World Shoe Shop," which went live on August 1, includes five different shoe guides, broken out for men and women. Guides include shoes for trail, motion control, stability, performance training and neutral-cushioned. Also included in the app are several "how-to" videos, including how to find the right shoe if you over or under-pronate. Videos also feature "how to tie the perfect knot" and "how to determine your arch type." The "Runner’s World Shoe Shop" also showcases Nike’s latest hot product, The Nike Lunar Glide family of shoes. As part of NearbyNow's continuing effort to connect consumers with products, the application offers users the ability to find and reserve items at local stores, or to purchase them online.

The "Seventeen Fashion Finder" by Seventeen Magazine includes numerous features designed to appeal to teenage girls, who both outnumber male teenage mobile phone subscribers, and who use their mobile phones more than their male counterparts. A back-to-school shopping guide, mirroring the Seventeen look and feel, is the main feature of the app, which lets teens view editor-recommended back-to-school fashions, find and purchase clothing and accessories at local retailers through the "find it local" and "buy it now" features, and share them via an "e-mail to a friend" option. Another part of the app features teen star Selena Gomez, who offers her top fashion picks.

"Millions of teen girls turn to Seventeen for fashion and beauty advice," said Ann Shoket, editor in chief of Seventeen. "The 'Seventeen Fashion Finder' is like having one of our stylists in your purse and makes Seventeen's tried and true advice available wherever and whenever our girls need it."

"Our experience with iPhone shoppers shows they are 17 times more likely to go to a local store than buy online," said Scott Dunlap, CEO and founder of NearbyNow. "To understand the full impact of mobile shopping, you need to track and drive both online and in-store purchasing. The NearbyNow iPhone Platform is designed to do just that, and provides solid proof that these magazines have a powerful influence on shopping behavior."
